LSU reserve fullback Shawn Jordan
Jordan was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled
substance Tuesday in his hometown of El Paso, Texas, after allegedly
attempting to transport anabolic steroids across the U.S. border from
Juarez, Mexico.
"This is a very serious matter to us," Miles said. "We do everything we
can as an institution to educate and inform our team about the dangers
of drugs, in particular steroids. We have a comprehensive drug testing
program in place and the NCAA comes in to test our athletes two or three
times a year."
Miles said he did not believe Jordan intended to deal to or share
steroids with fellow LSU players.
"I'm confident that it's isolated," Miles said. "We are going to do
everything we can to help Shawn through this situation. However, he will
be suspended from the team until we can gather all of the facts and get
more information as to exactly what his involvement is."
In two years with the Tigers, Jordan has appeared in two games, both of
them lopsided victories last season over Arkansas State and Mississippi
State.
